Preparing Your Clothing

Preparing Your CLOTHING

1. Check that all your clothing is clean.  Items that have been in storage may need to be washed as they sometimes have a musty, mildew smell.  If you have a pet, please be sure that items are free from pet hair. Ironing the clothing also helps them sale.  It is time consuming, but will give you the biggest return on your investment.  Items that are presented well, sell well.

2.  Place all clothing items on hangers, with hanger facing the garment’s RIGHT shoulder.  You may get hangers from some local dry cleaners, Dollar General, Walmart, etc. Please choose hangers that are large enough to prevent the clothing item from sliding off of its hanger. With each item that you put on a hanger, ask yourself “will my item stay on the hanger?” If you have any doubt, PIN it onto the hanger. If your items slide off the hangers they will be on the floor and no one will see them to purchase them. This is the most important step in preparing your items!

3.  Pants must be pinned at the waist to the TOP of the hanger (see the example below). Pinning to the bottom  will allow them to slide to one side.  Do not fold pants over hanger as they will end up on the floor. A good way to keep your pants and skirts from sliding once they are pinned on the wire hanger: Tape small tabs of tape (duct, masking or electrical tape) on the hanger where you plan to pin the the item. Then, pin your item through the tape. This will keep your items from sliding on the wire hangers.

4.  Any outfits that have matching accessories such as hats, socks, etc.,  can be attached to the clothing.  The accessories should be placed in Ziploc bag and secured to the outfit with a safety pin.

5.  Outfits with pants, should be pinned so that they hang where the pants can be seen.

6.  Please secure all items to the hanger with medium to large safety pins.  Items tend to fall off hangers and cannot sale if they are on the floor.

7.  Outfits that are sold together need to be safety pinned to one hanger.  If it is not possible to get all the pieces together, you can use multiple hangers and use a rubber band to attach the hangers together. Please to do not sale items as outfits if the size on the pants do not match the size on the shirt. These items need to be sold separately.

8.  Place all hair bows, socks, bibs, belts, tights and accessories in a Ziploc bag and secure with tape.  Small items tend to get lost and separated and this helps keep your items together.

9.  Please hang all onsies. You may pin several together and put one tag on the set.

1.  Clothing tags should be pinned on the LEFT chest of the item using safety pins.
